"Why is it that when a black man wants to preserve his culture and heritage it's a good thing, but when a white person wants the same thing, we're called haters?" -- Thomas Robb, the national director of the Knights Party (an offshoot of the Klu Klux Klan).

It's the context of the other things these groups promote that gets them labeled "haters." Duh.
Also, there is no one "white culture" or heritage. Anglo-Saxon or Scots-Irish, maybe, but not white. There are many "white" or European cultures. Similarly, there isn't any one "yellow" or Asian culture, but many, and not one "red" culture, but many Native American cultures. I'm a European American, I'm interested in the culture and heritage of my ancestors (it's not true that we're "never" interested in our heritage). I'm also interested in my American heritage, which includes everything from slavery and genocide to the Declaration of Independence, women's suffrage, Motown, Velveeta and Gilligan's Island. In other words, lots of shit, good, bad and mediocre. I don't like all of it, but I feel I should learn about the things I don't like, as well as the things I like.
